11th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Whisky Run Golf Course

Golf-Tourn-08-Image.gifThe Young Automotive Professionals 11th Annual Charity Golf Tournament will be held at Whisky Run Golf Course on Sunday, June 1, 2008.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Children’s School Breakfast Program that assists students in need with a daily, healthy breakfast.  Each year the Young Auto Professionals select a community charity to benefit from the golf tournament.  As part of our commitment to supporting our local area, we are proud to dedicate our efforts to this important community project.

Golf will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.  A full field of 144 golfers is anticipated once again.  Support from our suppliers and affiliates makes this event special for all participants.  A steak barbeque follows golf and prizes are awarded to teams before the golfers depart in the afternoon.

This driveability update seminar is specific to engine management and control system related concerns.  Topics covered include the diagnosis and servicing of typical engine management systems and the following:

  • PCM’s - ECM’s description, operation and logic
  • All powertrain input sensors
  • Temperature sensors
  • Load / Pressure / Vacuum / Air Sensors
  • Vehicle Speed
  • Engine Speed (Crank, Cam references)
  • Oxygen Sensors (F & R)

2007 Trade Show - Wednesday, Sept. 26th - Club Rheingold

The Young Auto Professionals are proud to announce that their 2007 Trade Show will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at Club Rheingold on Yager Road, Port Colborne, ON. The show opens at 6:00 p.m. and runs until 10:00 p.m. The Trade Show is part of the celebration being held by The Young Auto Professionals honouring their 22nd year as a highly respected automotive parts supply business.

This Trade Show is known throughout the Niagara Region as the largest jobber Automotive Trade Show. The focus is on support for auto repair shops, dealerships and the mechanics and trades people working in them.

Approximately 52 national suppliers of parts, supplies, services and tools will be present at the show. A complete list of suppliers who will be present is included in our September 2007 Newsletter (see below).

Manufacturers’ representatives along with Young Automotive Professional sales and counter staff will be available throughout the show to answer questions and assist guests to find current trade information. The complete team of warehouse, dispatch and delivery staff also attend the event. Owners Claudio Sceppacerqua and John Grandilli will be present and enjoy the opportunity to meet their loyal customers at this event.

2007 Trade Show - Special Guests:

Johnny Bower:

JohnnyBower-web.gifFormer Toronto Maple Leaf goaltender and Hockey Hall of Fame member Johnny Bower will be in attendance to sign autographs and talk with trade show attendees.

Bower, considered one of the great goal tenders during the “Original Six” era of the NHL, played for the New York Rangers in 1953-54 and for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1958-59 through 1969-70, a period when the Leafs won several Stanley Cups.

Bower continued his career as a scout for the Leafs for twenty years. He founded the Johnny Bower Goal Tending School and is active as a motivational speaker. Today he is one of the most widely respected of the Maple Leaf alumni.

Kelly Williams:

KellyWilliams-web.gifKelly Williams is a highly respected CASCAR race driver who is the current spokesperson for Car Care Canada. After she gained her certification as a school teacher, Kelly turned her attention to her love of race cars and driving.

Running at Flamboro, Delaware, the CNE and Mosport, Kelly established herself as a top flight driver. She received a lucrative sponsorship from General Motors and became the first female driver to log a win in CASCAR in 1994.

Kelly is a natural communicator who can be regularly heard as radio and TV spokesperson for Car Care Canada.

Young Auto Professionals Named Canal Days Festival Sponsor of the Year - 2007

CanalDays-logo.gifAt the annual media launch event for the 29th Annual Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival held in the City of Port Colborne, The Young Automotive Professionals were awarded the special honour of being named “Sponsor of the Year - 2007”.

In a ceremony at the historic Roselawn Centre,  Mayor Vance Badawey and Festival Sponsorship Coordinator Sandy Pilot presented the award to partners John Grandilli and Claudio Sceppacerqua.

The Young Automotive Professionals have sponsored the Canal Days Car Show for the entire 15 years that it has been in operation as a sanctioned event of the city wide Marine Heritage Festival.  Billed as the largest single day car show in Ontario, the event attracted over 400 vehicles in  2006.

Assisting in the presentation was Terry Huffman, Chair of the Canal Days Car Show Committee.  This group of volunteers along with major sponsorship support from The Young Automotive Professionals operates a smooth and efficient show that is a delight for participants and spectators alike. 

car%20show.jpgIn a short acceptance speech on behalf of The Young Automotive Professionals, Claudio Sceppacerqua thanked Mayor Badawey and the Port Colborne Economic Development and Tourism Corporation for the honour.  Speaking on behalf of his partner John Grandilli and all the Young Auto staff, Claudio stated that it was a pleasure to work with the volunteer committee to bring the annual car show to Lakeview Park as a major event in the city-wide festival.

The 2007 Canal Days Car Show will be held on Sunday, August 5th from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Many cars begin arriving at 7:00 a.m. to ensure entry into this prestigious event for car lovers.

10th Annual Golf Tournament - Success for M.S.

ball-near-pins.gifSunday, June 3, 2007 dawned with damp and threatening skies.  One hundred and sixty golfers, forty teams of four players, took to the various tee off points for a shotgun start. With golf carts at the ready, the horn sounded to signal the start of play.

By 10:00 a.m. the intermittent sprinkles of rain stopped and the skies brightened ensuring a great day of golf at the Port Colborne Golf and Country Club.

The event was organized by Young Auto Professional managers Peter Stelmach and Tom Little with assistance from several staff members.  A multitude of sponsors provided a vast array of prizes that awaited the golfers at the dinner following the golfing.

First place was decided by two teams requiring a playoff hole to clinch the tournament championship.  Team DiCarmine prevailed over Team Fretz on the tie breaking hole.

Final Standings:

  1. Team DiCarmine - captain Tony Dicarmine.
  2. Team Fretz - captain Merv Fretz.
  3. Team Grandilli (A) - captain Kyle Grandilli
  4. Team Morningstar - captain Dave Morningstar
  5. Team Murdoch - captain, Don Murdoch
  6. Team Grandilli (B) - captain Joe Grandilli

Longest Drive - Eric Sinclair of Team DiCarmine.

Closest to the Pin - Tony Pruyn of Team Speedy Auto Body.

At the conclusion of the awards a cheque for $1200.00 was presented to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
